EastEnders revenge plot ends after one year.
Guess who's making a comeback? It's none other than Nish Panesar, who has miraculously survived a near-death experience and is back in EastEnders to once again wreak havoc on Suki's relationship with Eve Unwin. However, what was once an entertaining villainous role has now become tiresome for viewers.

Nish's storyline reached its peak last year when he violently attacked his ex and was only stopped by a well-placed wine bottle from Denise Fox. He was also the prime suspect for the Christmas Day death, but it was a surprising twist to see him survive while Keanu Taylor was killed instead. While it was refreshing to see him receive justice behind bars, it's now been a year and his character is still lingering.

Despite being terminally ill, Nish continues to oscillate between wanting to make amends and wanting to harm his enemies, including his own children. It's been a stretch for the Panesar family to overlook his violent attack on Suki, and it's disappointing to see characters like Avani, Nugget, and Ravi fall for his manipulations.

Navin Chowdhry does an excellent job portraying Nish, with his subtle menacing moments and explosive rage. However, his vendetta against Suki has been milked dry and his sudden prison escape seems far-fetched. He's now back to disrupt Suki and Eve's wedding plans, even though Suki has made it clear she won't leave her soulmate for Nish.

It's a shame that Nish is now the central focus of a lesbian wedding storyline, especially since it's an opportunity for EastEnders to have their first successful, drama-free wedding of a same-sex couple. Past attempts have ended in jiltings or deaths, and it would have been refreshing to see a wedding that focuses on the couple themselves, rather than a male character seeking revenge.

While Nish's character has been well-received by viewers and the actor, Navin, is loved on set, it may be time to let go and end his tenure on a high. The wedding could still play out in a way that shifts the focus back to Suki and Eve, but initial reactions to Nish's escape have been more of exasperation rather than excitement. As much as we love Nish, it may be time to move on and give the spotlight to the much-needed representation of Suki and Eve's relationship.
