Dog rescued after being confined in campervan for 3 days.
Today, Greater Manchester Police were called to rescue a golden retriever that had been left inside a locked campervan for three days. Witnesses reported that there were no windows open and that nobody had been seen in or around the van.

When police arrived, they found the poor pup sitting in the driver's seat, looking dejected and uncomfortable. An officer had to break a window in order to rescue the dog. It's not known exactly how long the dog had been left in the van alone, but it had been parked in the area for three days before police were called.

The dog is now being cared for at one of the force's rescue centres, while officers try to trace the owner. Chief Inspector Chris Boyd commented on the situation, saying "It is just not acceptable to allow a dog to be in a vehicle on their own for even a couple of hours, let alone three days. When we found him, there were no open windows and, with it being quite warm today, this could have ended up a disaster. Thankfully the dog is now being looked after."

The RSPCA and other animal charities have long warned about the dangers of leaving dogs alone in hot cars. Even if the vehicle is parked in the shade or the windows are open, cars can still get extremely hot inside and cause harm to the dog.

Chief Inspector Boyd concluded his statement by saying, "Just don't leave your dog on its own in a vehicle. If you are planning on being away from your vehicle, then don't take the risk and leave your dog at home."
