Director Kelley Kai celebrates Pride and Caribbean heritage in psychological thriller
Jagged Mind is a thrilling movie that is sure to delight LGBTQ audiences and promote Caribbean heritage. Directed by Kelley Kai, an award-winning Haitian-American filmmaker, Jagged Mind stars Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Shannon Woodward in a toxic, queer love tale set in the Little Haiti section of Miami.

When Kai was brought onto the project, the script originally called for two white women, but she quickly knew that making the characters an interracial couple would add to the complexity of the story. She was delighted to see that the writer, Allyson, already had the same vision.

Kai was also excited to bring some of her culture to the big screen, especially in her home of Miami, and to feature Haitian Kreyòl. Actor Jimmy Jean-Louis also stars in the movie as Papa Juste, who brings an element of Caribbean culture in the form of spells.

On June 15, the movie will be available to stream on Hulu, and Kai is pleased with how the streaming platform and the 20th Digital Studio have embraced this diverse project. “The team had already planned on casting authentically,” Kai shared. “I never had to even bring it up, which made me so happy and proud.”

Jagged Mind promises to be a unique and unforgettable movie-watching experience, and is sure to be a hit with audiences everywhere.
