Dianne Buswell responds to body-shaming 8 months after giving birth

Dianne Buswell has hit back at criticism of her looks on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. The Australian professional dancer, 37, has long been a fan favourite since joining the BBC dance competition in 2017. While taking part in the 2018 series, she met social media star Joe Sugg, 35, and after months of speculation, the pair confirmed they were together shortly after the final.

By March 2026, the couple had welcomed their first child, a son named Bowden. Dianne surprised viewers by not taking any time off from her Strictly commitments during her pregnancy, continuing to dance with celebrity partner Stefan Dennis before returning this autumn with Will Best. However, her recent appearance on the show has led to some harsh online remarks, with one person claiming she had been deliberately dressed in “frumpy” outfits since becoming a mum.

Commenting on a video of the quickstep she and TV presenter Will performed this weekend, the user wrote: “I don’t know what’s happened to wardrobe this year – I suspect a budget cut – also why do they keep dressing Diane in such frumpy looking costumes, she usually looks fabulous but some of this year’s creations have been a little strange
