Madikeri, Sep. 4: The District Collector has ordered the formation of a team to conduct a survey of crops damaged due to heavy rains, drought, natural disasters, weather conditions and other reasons in Kodagu district in 2025-26, submit a report on the extent of damage village-wise and hobli-wise and to pay compensation to the affected victims in this regard.
The team includes the Joint Director of the Agriculture Department, Deputy Director of the Horticulture Department, Deputy Director of the Coffee Board of Virajpet and the Tahsildars of Madikeri, Somwarpet, Virajpet, Kushalnagar and Ponnampet taluks.
This team should conduct a joint site inspection of the crop damage with the officials of the concerned department and the Revenue Department officials and submit a detailed report on the crop damage along with photographs.
Taluk-wise teams should be formed in collaboration with the departments and the report should be consolidated and submitted to the office of the concerned Tahsildar by October 6.
Deputy Director, Horticulture Department, Kodagu District, along with the coffee crop damage survey, should also assess the damage to the black pepper crop and submit a report, said Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja.
