Kushalnagar, Sep. 4: A decision has been taken to ban the production, sale, storage, distribution and use of all types of single-use plastic items less than 120 microns in size in the Kushalnagar municipality, informed Kushalnagar Municipality Chairperson Jayalakshmi. Speaking at a press conference at the town's municipal office, she said that it has been decided to strictly implement this rule from October 2. She appealed to everyone to join hands to make Kushalnagar town a clean town by giving up plastic.

Municipal Chief Officer T.S. Girish said that a circular has already been issued by the government regarding the ban on plastic in the local bodies and work will be done to create awareness among the public about this. Local traders and consumers should fully cooperate in banning the use of single-use plastic. He said that everyone should join hands to prevent river pollution by using cloth bags as an alternative.

Municipal Standing Committee Chairman M.B. Suresh said that everyone's cooperation is necessary for a plastic-free town.

Kushalnagar Chamber of Commerce President K. S. Nagesh, who was present at the press conference, welcomed the decision of the municipality and said that everyone should voluntarily follow the rules.
