Counter-protest held at Just Stop Oil event by Just Stop P****** People Off.
Just Stop Oil was hosting a Beyond F****d Banquet in London on Sunday to celebrate and grieve for what will die and disappear due to the climate crisis. The event was meant to offer campaign updates, stories from people in resistance, plant based food, and music. However, their celebration was interrupted by Just Stop P****** People Off counter-protesters.

These counter-protesters were led by British YouTubers Josh Pieters and Archie Manners, and they sent a mole ‘undercover’ to try and stop Just Stop Oil. Archie explained their motivation for the counter-protest: “Climate Change is the greatest crisis facing our generation - but if we’re going to solve it we need to work together. JSO’s tactics over the last 18 months haven’t worked; indeed people across the country are put off this vital cause as a result of their protesting. The people at JSO are well intended; but they’re going about it the wrong way. Stopping mothers getting to hospital, or ruining people’s day out at the snooker isn’t doing anything to tackle climate change.”

The counter-protesters crashed the event, sending loudly screeching ‘personal safety alarms’ on orange balloons up to the roof of the venue. People had to climb ladders to retrieve the screeching alarms from the high-ceilinged venue. Just Stop Oil then took to Twitter to share a video of the interruption and commented, “Props to Just Stop P****** People Off for their impeccable action design. We invited them to eat with us, but the alarms they let off at our banquet instead were the perfect metaphor for the urgency of the climate crisis.”

Just Stop Oil, which was founded last February, has certainly been divisive in its mission to put an end to all new oil and gas contracts. Last week, a protester was punched to the ground and kicked in the head while slow-marching down Cromwell Road in Kensington. Protester Daniel Knorr, a student, said he didn’t plan to report the assault to the police.
