Congress in Odisha holds protest march for Ambedkar, calling for resignation of Shah.
On Tuesday, the Odisha Congress organized a special event called the 'Ambedkar Samman March' in different parts of the state in response to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's alleged derogatory comments about BR Ambedkar. Congress leaders and their supporters gathered in Bhubaneswar, Koraput, Dhenkanal, and Malkangiri, holding posters and portraits of Ambedkar, to express their dissent.

They raised slogans against Amit Shah, accusing him of disrespecting Ambedkar during a debate on the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha last week. Later on, a delegation of Congress leaders handed over a memorandum to President Droupadi Murmu through the ADM office in Bhubaneswar, demanding an apology and resignation from Shah.

Former state Congress president Niranjan Patnaik expressed his disappointment, saying, "It is truly unfortunate and shameful that BJP leader and Home Minister Amit Shah has insulted Ambedkar and the Constitution. His words have deeply hurt us." Patnaik also called for Shah to apologize to the nation and step down from his position.

Senior Congress leader Mohammed Moquim also condemned Shah's remarks, stating that they have offended all citizens, especially those from marginalized communities such as Dalits, minorities, and backward classes. Moquim demanded Shah's resignation, and also urged him to acknowledge his mistake and apologize publicly.

Moquim also commented on the alleged physical assault on two BJP MPs in Parliament, calling it a staged drama by the saffron party. He pointed out that when Congress requested the release of CCTV footage, the Lok Sabha Speaker rejected the request, implying that the BJP was trying to cover up the incident.

In addition, the Bhubaneswar unit of the CPI also joined in the protest and burnt an effigy of Shah. CPI state secretary Suresh Panigrahy condemned the Home Minister's comments, describing them as "highly unfortunate, anti-tribal, and anti-dalit."
