Alan Carr, the beloved comedian and winner of Celebrity Traitors, has made quite the extravagant purchase. He has recently acquired a grand estate worth a staggering £3.25million. This comes after his impressive victory on the murder mystery show, where he used his cunning wit to secure a whopping £87,500 for his chosen charity, Neuroblastoma UK.
But what exactly did this purchase entail? Well, according to reports, Alan has bought Ayton Castle, a magnificent property situated in the Scottish Borders. The castle boasts 17 bedrooms, 160 acres of land, and even has its own little railway. It's no wonder the castle's website describes it as "an important Scottish baronial mansion" and an "impressive local landmark".
But that's not all. In true Alan Carr fashion, he will be sharing his journey of renovating the castle with the world. And what better platform to do so than Disney Plus? The streaming service has signed a seven-figure deal with Alan to document his transformation project, as he turns the castle into a luxury hotel and spa.
Speaking about his latest venture, Alan shared, "Since I was a boy in Northampton, I've always dreamt big, and have always been enchanted with the history and romance of a stately home. As I turn 50, I feel it's time. All I want is a turret to call my own - get me over that drawbridge." It's clear that his dreams have finally come true, and he couldn't be more excited about it.
This isn't the first time Alan has taken on a large-scale DIY challenge. In fact, he has teamed up with his close pal Amanda Holden for four seasons of their hit BBC show, which follows their renovation projects. And now, they are both set to work on Alan's castle together, with the production company behind Clarkson's Farm reportedly on board as well.
Despite their success as a duo, Alan and Amanda have ruled themselves out of presenting Strictly Come Dancing, after Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly announced they were stepping down. But that doesn't mean they don't have their hands full. Along with this massive hospitality project, Alan is also busy with his large-scale stand-up tour, which will run for most of 2027.
But that's not all - Alan has also been filming a new Channel 4 series with Susie Dent, called Secret Genius. The show aims to find the hidden geniuses among us, and Alan has been so busy that he has even been caught napping on set. Talk about a busy schedule!
It's no surprise that Alan needed a little breather in between his projects. In fact, he may have accidentally revealed his big purchase to the series producer of Celebrity Traitors, despite not being able to tell anyone else. But with his hard work and dedication, it seems like Alan's investment may pay off in the long run.
Sources claim that Alan used his own money to purchase Ayton Castle, and "stands to make millions" if all goes well. This is not only a shrewd move on Alan's part, but also a smart one for Disney, who will be kicking off their new show with little to no risk. We can't wait to see the final result of Alan's castle renovation and his journey on Disney Plus.
And if that wasn't enough, Alan has also recently been seen at Ardross, another Scottish castle. Looks like he's no stranger to these grand properties. It's clear that Alan's midlife crisis involves a different kind of purchase - not a Lamborghini or a ponytail, but his very own castle. Talk about living the dream!
