YouTube star Colleen Ballinger, also known as Miranda Sings, has had her upcoming US tour canceled due to allegations of inappropriate behavior with young fans. The 36-year-old was due to perform in cities such as Boise, Salt Lake City, Kansas and Santa Fe, but the remaining 11 dates have been axed.
Trisha Paytas, who recently launched the Oversharing podcast with Ballinger, announced that the show was over after just three episodes. In a YouTube video, she expressed her embarrassment and disappointment at the situation. Paytas claimed that they had invested a lot into the podcast and that it was now time to move on.
Ballinger has been accused of sending inappropriate messages to some underage fans, as well as grooming. In 2020, Adam McIntyre accused her of sending him lingerie when he was a teenager. Colleen addressed the allegations in a YouTube video, insisting that it was a joke and that she is not a monster. McIntyre also alleged that she 'bullied and manipulated' some of her young fans into doing free labor, as well as asking them inappropriate questions.
Further controversy emerged when a video resurfaced showing Ballinger allegedly performing a cover of Beyonce’s Single Ladies in blackface. Her lawyers have denied this, instead claiming that she had painted herself green after the witch in Wicked.
At the end of June, Ballinger addressed the allegations in a new 10-minute video, titled 'Hi'. She sang about the ‘toxic gossip train, chugging down the tracks of misinformation’ and insisted that although she had messaged her fans in the past, it was not done in a 'creepy way'.
The Agency has contacted Colleen’s reps for a comment. The situation is embarrassing for all involved and it remains to be seen how it will be resolved. In the meantime, Christine and Paddy McGuinness appear to be doing well after their split one year ago.
