Bhubaneswar was brimming with excitement as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended a warm invitation to the Indian diaspora. During his speech at the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention, Majhi expressed his eagerness to appoint a nodal minister who will be responsible for connecting with interested NRIs and Persons of Indian Origin.

The presence of President Droupadi Murmu, who also hails from Odisha, added a special touch to the event. Majhi announced that the government will provide support and assistance to Pravasis who are keen on collaborating with the state for various projects and investments. In fact, to facilitate this, a nodal minister from the department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture will be appointed, as revealed by Majhi.

The chief minister also emphasized on the importance of the Indian diaspora in promoting and preserving the rich culture and heritage of Odisha. He expressed his desire for their involvement and cooperation in taking the Odia culture to the world. During the convention, Majhi met with Ravi Kumar S, the CEO of US-based IT giant Cognizant, and assured him of all necessary support to establish their biggest campus in Odisha. The government has also promised to allocate land in Bhubaneswar for this purpose.

Majhi also held a formal discussion with the Odia diaspora, assuring them of similar support if they wish to set up their projects in the state. He urged them to take advantage of this opportunity and bring forth their ideas and projects, promising full support from the government. The PBD convention was a momentous occasion for Odisha, as it was held for the first time in the state. Majhi expressed his joy at the presence of the diaspora, stating that it has brought a sense of happiness and hope to the state.

The chief minister described the convention as a historic event for Bhubaneswar, which was adorned with colorful lights and filled with music and dance performances. He also mentioned the various other events organized by the state government, such as the sea beach festival at Puri and the bird festival at Chilika. Majhi urged the diaspora to visit Odisha again and explore the diverse art, culture, architectural wonders, and spiritual serenity that the state has to offer.

Taking inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to the diaspora, Majhi requested them to bring at least five of their foreigner friends to visit India and Odisha. He also congratulated the winners of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman awards and extended his gratitude to PM Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for their support in making the PBD a grand success. The chief minister also thanked President Droupadi Murmu for gracing the valedictory session of the PBD.
