Britney Spears has spoken out about the incident that occurred on Wednesday evening in Las Vegas, in which she was allegedly assaulted by a security guard. The Toxic singer, 41, was out with her husband Sam Asghari, 29, when she claims she was hit by NBA star Victor Wembanyama’s bodyguard.
The princess of pop said she had lightly ‘tapped’ the basketball player on the shoulder to ‘congratulate him on his success’ before being ‘backhanded’ in the face by a member of his security detail. Britney went on to call the incident a ‘traumatic experience’ and Sam denounced the ‘violent behaviour’ of the security guard.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigated the report but dropped all charges after reviewing CCTV footage and finding that Britney had accidentally hit herself in the face. TMZ also obtained a recording of the incident which shows Britney tapping Victor on the shoulder and then shouting ‘This is America. F*** you all.’
Victor had earlier claimed that someone had ‘grabbed’ him ‘from behind’ while he was in a crowded hall, and that his security pushed Britney away. Sam then took to social media to condemn the guard’s behaviour.
On her Instagram, Britney addressed the CCTV footage and said that in her lengthy showbiz career with ‘the most famous people in the world’, she had never seen a security guard hit a fan. She said her reaction was ‘priceless’, but that she was not sharing the incident to be a victim. Britney then expressed her hope that all her followers were having a wonderful Friday.
Victor later confirmed that his security guard would not face any charges. Whilst he denied any wrongdoing on his part, he also wished Britney the best.
