A retired army veteran had a bag of dog feces left on his doorstep after asking a white community member to stop letting her dog foul his yard. Gibson and other Black residents have also shared stories of unfair treatment while fishing.

The matter has been addressed by the president of the board of directors, Thomas Drolet. He acknowledges that racism exists in the neighborhood, but believes it is something that can be handled internally. The whole experience has left Gibson feeling disheartened and he has lost the desire to fish in the area. He expressed, “I’m not afraid of anybody. But do I want to get out of this house and go fishing and do any of that stuff around here anymore? Hell to the no.”
