Arnold, 76, confesses he felt
Arnold Schwarzenegger is a living legend, having achieved incredible feats throughout his lifetime. From bodybuilding to Hollywood movies and even becoming the Governor of California, the 76-year-old has done it all.

However, it's clear that Arnold has a very honest view on his body. In his new book, Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life, he talks about how his perception of his body has changed over the years, particularly how his once enormous muscles have gone down in size.

When speaking to Howard Stern in a new interview, Arnold was self-deprecating about his body. He said, ‘I do look in the mirror and I say, “Yeah, you suck.” Look at this body. Look at these pectoral muscles that used to be firm and perky and really powerful – now they’re just hanging there.’

He continued, ‘It’s just when you’ve been hailed for years as this supreme body and you have the definition and you see the veins coming down your abs and you see veins on top of your chest, and then you fast-forward 50 years, you’re standing there and you don’t see them anymore. So that’s kind of like, “Wow.” I never, ever thought about that when I was like 30 years old and 40 years old, that this is going to happen. That one time we’re going to look at this body – it still looks better than the majority of bodies – but it just sucks.’

Howard advised Arnold to ‘accept his humanity’, which he admitted was ‘hard’ given he was once ‘Superman’. Arnold shared how he now only eats two meals a day, as he gets older, his ‘system slows down and doesn’t burn off’ like it used to.

The actor also spoke about the heart operation that he had in 1997, when he underwent a Ross procedure. He said that afterwards he felt ‘vulnerable’, as the doctor advised him to ‘pay attention when you breathe when you exercise’ and exhale, as ‘that is too much stress on the valves in the heart’. However, Arnold concluded that he isn’t ‘upset’ about it, as it's ‘the only choice [he] have[s]’.

At 76 years old, Arnold is full of energy and enthusiasm and is as ‘enthusiastic and excited’ as he was when he was 30 years old. Despite his age, the actor is a living example of how it's never too late to take on challenges and make the most out of life.
