On Friday evening, an Air India flight bound for Bengaluru had to make an unexpected return to New Delhi due to a fire warning from its auxiliary power unit. The plane, carrying approximately 175 passengers, was identified as flight AI 807.
According to sources, the plane landed safely at the airport after the pilots followed necessary protocols. An Air India spokesperson confirmed the incident in a statement, stating that the aircraft returned to Delhi in response to the fire warning. Fortunately, the landing was uneventful and all passengers and crew members were able to safely disembark at the aerobridge.
The spokesperson also reassured that alternative arrangements have been made for the passengers to reach their destination at the earliest. According to flight tracking website flightradar24, the flight was operated by an A321 aircraft. In response to the suspected fire, three fire tenders from Delhi Fire Services were immediately dispatched to the airport. A DFS official confirmed that they received a call from IGI Airport at 6.15 pm regarding a possible fire on the aircraft.
