The next big news on everyone's radar is the confirmation from Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter that she is expecting her second child. This news comes after a heartbreaking experience where she miscarried quadruplets in 2021. The actress, who is well-known for her role as Theresa McQueen on the popular Channel 4 soap, shared this exciting update during the latest episode of ITVBe's Drama Queens. This reality show follows the lives of soap stars outside of their filming schedules, and features other familiar faces like Ellie Leach from Coronation Street, Amy Walsh and Roxy Shahidi from Emmerdale, and even EastEnders legend Rita Simons.
During her interview, Jorgie couldn't contain her excitement as she revealed, "So guys, guess what? I'm pregnant!" She also shared that the pregnancy hormones have left her "a touch moody," but that didn't dampen her spirits. Her partner Oliver Piotrowski also joined in on the conversation, expressing his mixed emotions of being both excited and scared for the journey ahead. Jorgie's first son Forest, born in November 2022, was also present during the chat.
This happy news comes after a tragic loss when Jorgie lost her quadruplets at 14 weeks in 2021. She opened up about this emotional experience during an episode of Giovanna Fletcher's Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast. Jorgie discussed the challenges and risks involved in carrying multiple babies and the difficult decision she had to make when the embryos stopped developing. "We'd obviously Google stuff, and you just see the most extreme things," she shared. "You can lose one, you can lose two, and then they spoke about terminating one and terminating two and I thought, I am not going to take one away from a pack."
Unfortunately, Jorgie experienced the miscarriage of her quads, and it was a tough time for both her and Oliver. She revealed that they were arguing and struggling to communicate, but eventually, Oliver opened up about his feelings and thoughts on the loss. "It's not just me, the mum, that's been through this, Ollie as the dad has suffered loss," she explained. "He's not able to do anything physically, emotionally, it was a helpless position to be in and he felt like he couldn't say anything at the time."
Jorgie also shared the story of how she found out she was pregnant with Forest, and how the previous ordeal had understandably affected her reaction to the news. "I told friends and family around us and they were a bit on pins because no one wanted to get excited for us," she recalled. "I thought, okay, we can't really tell everyone again but I told my closest friends as I needed the support. We had to get to the milestones before I let us get excited."
Now, as she prepares to welcome her second child, Jorgie is grateful for the support she received from her loved ones and the community.
