Have you heard about the finalists for Britain's Best Pub Shed? You might be surprised to learn that one of them is not actually a pub at all. The photo might fool you, but it's actually a backyard shed that has been transformed into the ultimate "man cave". It's in the running for the prestigious title of Britain's Best Pub Shed of the Year 2024.

Out of over 1,000 applicants, only three DIY pubs have made it to the finals. One of them is The Winchester in Eastleigh, Hampshire, which is inspired by the movie Shaun of the Dead. It's got everything a pub needs, from an ornate bar to a poker table and dart board. Kev Marchant and his wife Gina built it in just one month, using materials from their contacts in the construction industry. The finished product has a traditional, old school look that brings back memories of Kev's younger days spent in pubs with his friends. It's no surprise that they chose to name it after their hometown, Winchester, and they also drew inspiration from the pandemic and the movie that shares the same name.

Moving on to the next finalist, we have The Adelaide in South Benfleet, Essex. This DIY pub, built by Terence Rogers, is equipped with a big screen TV for sports events and furniture from real pubs that have closed down. Terence wanted a space where he could host gatherings all year round, regardless of the weather. Along with serving drinks, The Adelaide also hosts quiz and game nights with friends and family, and has become a popular meeting spot for their street, whether it's for music or watching major events.

Last but not least, we have The Rob Inn in Ascot, Berkshire. This garden pub, created by Robin Arkwright, has a cozy, rustic vibe with wooden panels and a log burner. The name has a touching story behind it, as Robin explains that he struggled to come up with a name until one morning when a robin landed just a few feet away from him. It was his late father's favorite bird, and some say it's a sign of loved ones visiting. With Robin's name being so fitting, he decided to name his pub The Rob Inn.

Now the question is, which finalist will be crowned Britain's Best Pub Shed of the Year 2024? The winner will be announced on August 17th by twofatblokes.co.uk. Ashley Turner, from Two Fat Blokes Bar Sign Emporium, shares the inspiration behind the competition, saying that with the rising cost of a pint, people are looking for ways to save on their entertainment. By having your own garden pub, you can save on the cost of drinks, which can go up to £5.59 in London, and even enjoy a pint from the supermarket for just £1.35. No more expensive taxis or waiting at bus stops.

Do you have your own DIY pub shed story to share? We'd love to hear it. Get in touch by emailing us at email. Cheers to all the finalists and good luck!
