In order to manage the huge crowd, the Superintendent of Police Mayank Awasthi took the decision to divert the route of heavy vehicles, travelling from Bhopal to Indore, from the Sehore-Ashta route to the Biaora-Bhopal route. The diversion will remain in place until 6 pm on Tuesday.
The Kanwar Yatra commenced in the morning from Siwan River and reached Kubreshwar Dham by 1 pm. According to the organisers, they expect around 15 lakh devotees to join the procession by the evening.
The district collector Praveen Singh has taken all necessary measures to ensure the safety and comfort of the devotees. Keeping the huge turnout in mind, resources like motor boats have been made available on the banks of the Siwan river. The city's Dharamshalas, bus stand and railway station are crowded with devotees from all over the country.
