Sheila Renee Designs is excited to be featured in the 4th Annual Virginia Black Business Expo & Business Conference this year. Sheila Hawkins, the company’s CEO and Chief Creative Designer, expressed her enthusiasm to Baltimore Times. “I am so happy to be part of this event with other Black business owners,” she said.
This unique business is based in Waldorf, Maryland and specializes in custom jewelry and clothing items with bling and unique designs. Their range of products cover items like Converse, tumblers and bottles, Crocs, and shirts. Sheila Renee Designs also offers courses to teach people how to “bling like a boss” and elevate their craft businesses. The company was founded in 2018.
Hawkins is looking forward to bringing her business to Fredericksburg, Virginia for the expo and conference. She believes that it will help generate more attention for her business and gain more customers. She also believes that it’s an opportunity to network with other prominent Black-owned businesses.
Hawkins shared her thoughts on the importance of a dedicated space for Black business owners to network. “It can create a sense of community and support,” she said. “It’s a meaningful way to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society and it provides attendees with a chance to discover new and exciting offerings.”
The event is co-founded by Ernisha and Tracey Hall and will have vendors from the East Coast area. Ernisha said the goal is to “empower Black businesses” and to create spaces to give them the exposure they deserve.
The three-day conference includes activities like concerts, brunch, a skate party, food trucks, a career fair, and shopping spots. “It’s about recycling the Black dollar,” Ernisha said. “There’s going to be over 100 vendors here to shop with.”
