On Sunday, around 400 volunteers from the Red Ribbon Club and National Service Scheme in Bhopal took part in a mini marathon, Red Run, to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS. The NSS unit, Barkatullah University, Madhya Pradesh State AIDS Control Committee and NACO organized the marathon to mark the 55th Foundation Day of NSS.

The marathon started from TT Nagar Stadium and passed through Atal Path, Bhadbhada Square, Manit Square and Mata Mandir before ending at the stadium, where the prize distribution and closing ceremony took place. Manjeet Kumar, Khem Singh Patel and Nilesh Chadhar emerged as the first, second and third prize winners respectively in the men's category. Aarti Saratker, Aarti Khanujiya and Tanisha Rajput won the first, second and third prizes respectively in the women's category. The prize money for the first, second and third winners were Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively.

Two male and two female participants selected at the state level will compete in the national marathon to be held in Pune in October. Cultural performances were also organized and posters were put up to spread awareness about preventing diseases like HIV and AIDS.

The event was a success and the volunteers had a great time spreading the message of HIV and AIDS awareness.
