The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested four people in connection with a bribery case involving ₹3 lakh. The arrests were made on July 28 after a trap was laid and the Joint Director was caught with the bribe money. The other accused include a Joint Director posted in the office of the Director General, another Joint Director of the MOCA as an official liquidator, and an associate of a Mumbai-based private company.
During the searches conducted in Delhi, Gurugram, and Chennai, the CBI recovered approximately ₹59.80 lakh in cash along with incriminating documents and digital evidence. The arrested accused will be produced before the Competent Court.
The case was registered against the accused and the said private company, along with other unknown public servants and private persons. According to the CBI, it was alleged that the public servants were involved in corrupt and illegal activities and were taking bribes from the private person in order to show favour in the files of the private company pertaining to an investigation by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
This is not the first time that the CBI has arrested people in bribery cases. Earlier this week, the CBI arrested a Railway Officer in Bhopal in a bribery case and conducted searches in Bhopal, Katni, Jabalpur, and Chhindwara.
