10 deaths in Rourkela attributed to 'Heatwave'
Tragic news has struck Rourkela as reports have surfaced of 10 people losing their lives due to the intense heatwave conditions on Thursday. The director in-charge of Rourkela Government Hospital, Sudharani Pradhan, addressed the media and shared that the unfortunate deaths all occurred within a short span of six hours, starting at 2pm.

According to Pradhan, eight of the individuals had already passed away by the time they reached the hospital, while two more couldn't survive despite receiving treatment. She expressed her suspicion that the heatwave may have played a major role in these deaths. The body temperature of the patients upon arrival was alarmingly high, indicating the severity of the situation.

"They arrived with a body temperature of 103-104 degrees Fahrenheit, which is extremely high given the current weather conditions. This could be a possible cause of their untimely demise. Unfortunately, we were not able to gather any information about those who passed away before reaching the hospital," Pradhan shared.

She also mentioned that the exact reason behind the deaths could only be determined after conducting postmortem examinations. At present, there are still a few patients undergoing treatment, and Pradhan assured that the hospital staff is doing everything in their power to save them. The cause of their illness is yet to be determined.

As the community of Rourkela mourns the loss of their loved ones, the entire city is urged to take extra precautions and stay hydrated in the scorching heat. Let us hope that no more lives are lost due to these extreme weather conditions.
