Author Amber Ivey is making a big splash with her June 2023 release of AI… Meets… AI: An Exciting Tale of Connection and Adventure, which is currently ranked No. 2 on Amazon's "Best Sellers in Children's Computer Hardware & Robotics Books" list.
The illustrated book takes young readers on a journey with young Addy and her AI friend, Jaz, as they explore Baltimore. Ivey intentionally created a Black protagonist, in order to show young readers of color that their skin color or gender doesn't limit their potential or dreams.
Ivey's nieces and nephews were the big inspiration behind the characters in the book. She wanted to inspire the young readers to dream big and embrace the value of empathy, friendship, and environmental care.
The 37 page picture book is written for children ages four to eight, and is meant to introduce AI to children in a fun, yet educational way. Ivey hopes that it will help children grow up seeing AI as a normal part of life, not something scary or overly complex.
