Siddapur, Aug. 8: A young man was seriously injured in a wild elephant attack near the forest department's residential complex near Ghattadalla near Maldare on Friday morning. Dilip (25), a resident of Hanchittu in Maldare village, was on his way to Siddapur from his home at 8.30 am on his scooty to bring flowers for puja when a lone elephant suddenly came near the forest department's residential complex near Ghattadalla turn and tried to attack Dilip. In this incident, while trying to avoid the attack of the wild elephant, he fell down and suffered serious injuries to his leg and hand. Fortunately, he escaped death by a hair's breadth. Later, with the help of locals, the forest department officials and staff joined hands and admitted him to the Siddapur Community Health Center for treatment. While he was leaving the scooty, the angry elephant attacked the scooty and injured him. Sub-zonal forest officers Hans and Shashi P.T. and forest staff visited the spot and inspected it.

State Wildlife Committee member Sanket Poovaiah visited the Siddapur Community Health Center to inquire about the well-being of worker Dilip, who was injured in a wild elephant attack and admitted to treatment. He also obtained information from the forest department officials. Speaking on the occasion, he said that after a wild elephant that had been roaming around Ghattadalla for the past few days, a lone elephant attacked the worker Dilip, and the forest department officials and staff immediately took action to chase the elephant into the forest. Although the herd of wild elephants that have been roaming in the coffee plantations of this area for the past few days was chased into the forest, some of them have returned to the coffee plantation and are causing trouble. MLA Ponnanna explained that he is already working hard to implement the stop-release plan to formulate a permanent plan to prevent the encroachment of wild elephants. He said that the stop-release plan will be useful in preventing the encroachment of wild elephants in stages in the coming days. MLA Ponnanna said that he is working hard to relocate the wild elephants to a rehabilitation site. Sanket appealed to the workers and villagers of this area to be careful and vigilant when leaving their homes in the morning and evening and to be aware of wild elephants.
