Xbox should move on and not worry about Halo.
I was first introduced to Halo when I played Halo: Combat Evolved on the original Xbox. It was love at first sight and Halo 2 was the first online game I ever played. I have such fond memories of playing Halo 3 on the Xbox 360 with my friends that it might be my favorite game of all time. Those were the days when Halo was the biggest game around, bigger than even Call Of Duty. Unfortunately, things have been going downhill ever since Bungie left and 343 Industries took over.

I have liked bits and pieces of the games that have been released since then, and Halo Infinite's multiplayer seemed promising at first. But as we now know, things quickly fell apart after launch. It's so bad that it's now less popular than many indie games on Steam and not much better on the Xbox. Halo Infinite was supposed to be a live service game supported for years to come, but within three months it was already dead. It's impossible to come back from that.

If I were Phil Spencer, I'd make it a rule to not release any new Halo games for at least 10 years. That means no spin-offs, no remakes, and most certainly no sequels. That way, we can let the shame of Halo Infinite be forgotten and get people to miss the games. That's the most important step right there. If a new Halo game comes out too soon, it's just going to be another empty product created solely to keep the game's name alive, with no time for the developers to make something good.

Halo needs to go away for a while and people have to miss it before it can come back. Ten years may sound like a long time, but a triple-A game usually takes about five to six years to make. This new Halo game needs to be extraordinary, and Microsoft should use that time to set up a new studio to work on it. 343 Industries can't be trusted to make it happen, as they have failed too many times.

So, the plan is to pretend Halo is dead for a decade and then resurrect it with fresh minds that love the franchise. They should be the ones to come up with the new concept, focusing on the quality of the game rather than its form.

Halo has been a beloved series for many and it's time to give it the chance to shine again. It's time to let the franchise be reborn and become the biggest shooter in the world once more.
