On Tuesday, the city of Bhopal was witness to something extraordinary. Women journalists from the city walked the ramp wearing traditional dresses at a fashion show at Nandan Palace. This event, known as the Barkha Mahotsav, was organised by NH 12 Creative Women's Club to provide a platform for women journalists to showcase their talents.
Kranti Priya, Rashmi Prajapati, Madhurima Rajpal, Anjali Tomar, Rakhi nandwani and Parul presented themselves gracefully on the ramp, making sure that their talents were truly appreciated. Anshu Gupta, the president of the Club, said that the primary objective of the event was to give recognition to the journalists who bring the stories of ordinary people to light.
"This was the first show of its kind in Madhya Pradesh where women journalists got such a chance. These are the women who have established themselves in a male dominated field and have become an inspiration for many women. We are proud of what they have achieved," said Gupta.
Mrs Universe Amrita Tripathi also addressed a grooming session which was held as part of the event. The costumes were designed by fashion designer Pinky Sachdeva and the make-up was done by Swati Khilwani. They ended the show with a performance on Shravan songs.
Meanwhile, in other news, about 19,000 patwaris in Madhya Pradesh will go on a 3-day mass leave from Wednesday in order to press for salary revision. This mass leave is expected to affect the revenue work including demarcations for five days. Upendra Singh, the state president of the Patwari Association, said that their salaries have not been revised since 1998, despite the fact that salaries of revenue inspectors, naib tehsildars and tehsildars have been revised.
