Women are funnier than men - Supriya Pathak Kapur
Supriya Pathak Kapur is well known for her diverse characters across film, television, and OTT, but it's her role as Hansa Parekh in the Khichdi franchise that has her fans head over heels in love. Ahead of the release of Khichdi 2, the Free Press Journal team caught up with the veteran actor to talk about the importance of Diwali and her views on comedy, among other things.

When asked about the significance of Diwali in her life, the actress said, “Diwali is an occasion when I want all my family and friends to be around me. I'm looking forward to the release of Khichdi 2 so that I can celebrate two occasions together with them.” Not mincing her words, Supriya asserted that women have a better sense of humour than men. “Women are funnier than men; we are used to multitasking and dealing with a lot of situations, so our sense of humour is quite strong,” she said.

The seasoned actor believes that good writing is key to creating successful comedy and that in India, there is a lack of good comedy. She praised Aatish Kapadia for his level of comedy which is “organic and real”. Supriya also highlighted that comic timing is important, and that it doesn’t matter if it’s a man or woman making you laugh.

Finally, Supriya revealed that she herself is not very good at telling jokes and her punchlines often fall flat. “My husband tells me that I end up telling a story instead of cracking a joke, so I believe it has nothing to do with being a woman,” she concluded.
