The victim was admitted to JPC Hospital with 25 per cent acid burns and was later referred to LNJP Hospital for further treatment. On the day of the incident, both parties had attended Karkardooma Court for hearing in the matter. It was in the evening that Anjali poured acid on the complainant in a fit of rage.

In response to the incident, the Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal issued a notice to Delhi Police. This incident follows another acid attack in Mumbai, where a woman threw acid at a stray dog, resulting in the animal losing one eye.
