Whale propels snorkeler into sky near Gold Coast
Last week, a group of snorkellers off Southport on the Gold Coast got quite the surprise when they found themselves in close proximity to a group of humpback whales. As they were enjoying their underwater adventure, one of the group members was unexpectedly thrown into the air by the powerful tail of one of the whales.

The whole incident was captured by Queensland Youtubers Max Persyn and Jacqueline Payne, who were also snorkelling with the humpbacks in the same area. As they were surrounded by three majestic whales, the couple was carefully observing one of them below them when things took a chaotic turn.

Suddenly, there was a lot of movement and noise behind them, and before they knew it, their tour guide was lifted out of the water by the tail of one of the whales. Thankfully, the guide escaped unharmed and without any injuries. According to Payne, this was the first time something like this had happened to their guide, but he was surprisingly thrilled about the experience.

In other news, four hikers were recently rescued after getting stuck on the side of a cliff, and firefighters are still working to control a factory blaze in Sydney's west. However, for Persyn and Payne, their encounter with the humpbacks was definitely the highlight of their week. It just goes to show that nature can be unpredictable and truly awe-inspiring.
