Weather warning for fog from Met Office, but warmer weather coming soon.
Britain's tallest spire, Salisbury Cathedral, was captured by a drone at sunrise yesterday morning. After a few days of unusually chilly weather last week, there was a collective sigh of relief as the air warmed up over the weekend. It was a welcome change for many, and luckily, the rise in temperatures is expected to continue throughout the week. In fact, some areas may even reach a balmy 24C on Thursday.

However, the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for fog this morning in the west and north west of England, as well as Wales. They are urging drivers to be cautious on the road. According to forecasters, this could be the first widespread fog of the autumn season. The warning was in place from 5am and is expected to last until 10am. Fortunately, the fog is expected to disperse with a breeze and some sun, leaving behind a day of good spells of sunshine.

Further south, there may be some patches of mist in the morning, but overall, plenty of sunshine is expected throughout the day. This was great news for those participating in the Great South Skinny Dip at Studland Bay, Dorset on Saturday. Temperatures in the south are expected to reach highs of around 21C, while further north it may be slightly cooler at 19-20C. Tuesday is expected to have similar temperatures, but Wednesday is predicted to bring a rise to 23C in the south and around 21C in the north.

On Thursday, the south, central, and eastern parts of England are expected to enjoy highs of 24C. However, there appears to be a slight dip in temperatures for northern England, with cities like Manchester, Leeds, and Sheffield predicted to sit around 19-20C. Meanwhile, in Weymouth, Dorset, Ironman competitors took advantage of the sunny weather yesterday.

Dean Hall, senior meteorologist at the Met Office, explained that although there may be some very localized impacts from dense fog in the morning, it should quickly lift and disappear as the sun gets to work. He also mentioned that high pressure is expected to stay in charge of the weather for much of next week. This means that temperatures in the low 20Cs are well above the average of 18C-19C for this time of year.

For those who enjoy the warmth and sunshine, this will be a welcome relief from the cool and wet conditions of recent days. Mr. Hall added that there may be a slight change towards the end of the week as high pressure continues to dominate the weather. Overall, summer has been a bit on the cool side for some, so this burst of warmth and sunshine will be a nice change. It's a respite from the unsettled conditions that have been present in some places.
