We tried Paco Rabanne's new makeup line and here's our opinion on it.
Paco Rabanne, the brand behind the iconic fragrances 1 Million and Lady Million, has released an ultra-metallic, party-inspired makeup collection that has Christmas written all over it. Dubbed Rabanne Beauty, the range is available exclusively at Selfridges and I've put it to the test to see how well it stands up against other makeup.

The packaging looks sleek and stylish, and I was particularly impressed with the powder eyeshadows. The formula comes in two sizes – a mini and full version – both of which are travel-friendly and retail for £26 and £36 respectively. I used the mini size in Hey Sunshine, which has a fiery copper and cool gold inside. The pigment was so intense that it took me less than 30 seconds to apply both eyes with my finger – so user-friendly!

The liquid eyeshadow, called Colourshot, is also a great product. It comes in the shade Moon Child and is surprisingly comfortable to wear; it does feel heavier than powder shadow, but it didn't make my eyelids feel ‘tight’. Plus, I had no trouble blending and setting the pigment on my eyelid.

The mascara, which I expected to give me volume and drama, was actually more natural-looking and gave a wispy effect. It's great for those who want something a bit subtler.

The Shimmer Bomb, in Rose Dore, was the most unusual product I tried. It's billed as a spray-on glitter, but it's actually more of a faded pink stain that has a soft reflect. I tried it on my face, but I had no luck – it just disturbed my foundation. So, in my opinion, this one is a bit gimmicky and not worth it.

Finally, the lip products. Rabanne Beauty has two options: Famous Lipcolour, a matte lipstick, and LoveBalm, a tinted balm – both £29. I tried LoveBalm in Bloody Kiss, which is similar to Clinique's Black Honey but with more pigment. It was comfortable and hydrating. As for Famous Lipcolour in Orange Mecanique, I think I've finally found what I've been looking for in orange lipstick – it's flattering in tone and texturally with no exaggeration of lip lines or settling into dry areas.

To celebrate the launch, Rabanne Beauty is hosting an immersive experience at Covent Garden near the station for London Fashion Week, from 11am until 7pm each day between September 14 and 18. There, you can shop and have your makeup perfected by artists, or you can shop online at Selfridges.
