Ahsoka Tano is set to take the Star Wars universe by storm in her new Disney Plus series. Voiced by Rosario Dawson, the character has come a long way since her introduction in 2008 in the animated movie Star Wars: The Clone Wars. At the time, she was created to bridge the gap between Anakin Skywalker's portrayals, as he gradually gave in to the dark side of the Force.
Ahsoka was given the nickname 'Snips' by Anakin, and was voiced by Ashley Eckstein in the animated series of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and in the show Star Wars: Rebels. Ashley even had a cameo in the live action 2019 film The Rise of Skywalker, voicing Ahsoka when Rey heard the voices of Jedi of the past speaking to her.
If you wanted to catch up on Ahsoka's animated releases, it’s no small feat. The Clone Wars movie is over an hour and a half long, the animated show boasts 133 episodes in total, and Rebels has 75.
Then, in 2020, Rosario made her debut as the character in The Mandalorian season two, alongside Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin. Din helped Ahsoka defeat villainous city magistrate Morgan Elsbeth. She went on to appear in anthology series Tales of the Jedi in 2022 and The Book of Boba Fett.
When discussing Ahsoka's place in the Star Wars timeline, it’s important to take a look back at other releases. The first season of The Mandalorian was set five years after the events of the 1983 film Return of the Jedi, and Ahsoka is set around the same time as the third season. At this point in time, the New Republic has been formed in the wake of the Empire’s defeat, but malicious Imperial forces still remain a threat.
Ahsoka is available to watch on Disney Plus with new episodes released on Wednesdays. With so much of her story to explore, we wish you well on your Ahsoka journey!
