Walmart partners with Carl Jones to honor Black fathers through an animated short film.
Walmart has joined forces with well-known producer Carl Jones in a truly exciting collaboration - The League of Black & Unlimited Dads. This animated short film follows a team of Black fathers as they showcase their incredible parenting abilities. The main aim of the film is to uplift the image of Black dads and highlight their vital roles in their children's lives, while also dispelling negative stereotypes surrounding Black fatherhood.
Jones, who is also the co-founder of the award-winning Martian Blueberry Studios, responsible for hit animated shows such as The Boondocks, Black Dynamite, and Becoming Molly, took to his Instagram page to announce this groundbreaking project, sharing a sneak peek clip from the film.

"We are thrilled to present an animated short film inspired by real stories, celebrating the heroic actions of a team of Black Dads. Show some love for the superheroes in your life," he wrote.

This five-minute film will make its debut at the 2024 American Black Film Festival, which took place earlier this month. In addition, Walmart and ABFF will also be hosting the second edition of the Black & Unlimited Fatherhood Project content creators' competition, designed to support independent filmmakers and provide a platform for stories centered around Black fatherhood. The three winners will each receive a $10,000 cash prize, and their films will be showcased on ABFF PLAY, the festival's online platform, and Walmart's Black and Unlimited YouTube page from June 17-24.

"We are honored to continue our partnership with the American Black Film Festival. Our collaboration in 2023 was a resounding success, and we are thrilled to shine a spotlight on the importance of Black fatherhood and the crucial role of Black men in their families and communities. We look forward to another year of empowering emerging filmmakers and sharing stories about Black fatherhood with mainstream audiences," said D.J. Vaughn, multicultural media & content lead at Walmart, in a press release.
