Reader chose Wii U over PS4 or Xbox and has no regrets.

Growing up playing Nintendo games, I have always been a huge fan of the company. Even when they faced failure with the Wii U, I remained loyal. In fact, I firmly believe that the Wii U had a great selection of quality, exclusive games. I know I have said this before, but I must reiterate that I have been a devoted Nintendo fan since the days of the original NES console. In 2013, I came into some extra money and was able to afford all of the current consoles on the market: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Wii U. However, I had no fear of missing out and chose to invest in the Wii U, confident in the quality of their games to keep me entertained for years to come. And I was not disappointed. To provide some context, just a few months ago, my brother-in-law gifted me a PlayStation 4, and I am currently catching up on all the games I have missed. I must say, it is a fantastic console, but I digress – this is about the Wii U. As a self-proclaimed expert in gaming, I firmly believe that the quality of a console can only be judged by the quality of its games. And the Wii U had a plethora of amazing games to choose from. I vividly remember a colleague at work telling me that Nintendo was giving up on the Wii U and working on a new console to compete with the others. But my previous experiences with the Wii U contradicted this statement. In fact, I had been playing Splatoon online for free the night before and was still buzzing from the excitement. Where do I even begin to describe the fantastic games available on the Wii U? Mario Kart 8, Pikmin 3, and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker were just a few of my favorites. And let's not forget about Nintendo Land – the ghost level on that game was unmatched by any other console. Even if you had a Switch, it was impossible to replicate that experience. Personally, I believe that Splatoon was best played on the Wii U because of the map displayed on the controller screen. It was such a unique and enjoyable feature that really set the game apart. And don't even get me started on Super Mario Maker, where you could use the stylus to create your own levels. I was honored when I found out that someone from Nintendo's head office had played and enjoyed one of my levels. Yoshi's Woolly World, ZombiU, and Bayonetta 2 were also amazing games exclusive to the Wii U. Despite what others may say, we Wii U owners were not starving for games. We had plenty of amazing titles to keep us entertained, despite outside interference trying to convince us otherwise. Of course, there were also remakes of classic Zelda games like The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, which were a delight to play on the Wii U. And let's not forget about Breath of the Wild, which runs perfectly on the Wii U. Some may argue that Nintendo was just selling us old games, but I have no complaints. Plus, it's not like other companies haven't done the same thing. Though the Wii U may not have sold as many consoles as its competitors, its game catalog was a force to be reckoned with. It may have been an underdog in the console wars, but it definitely punched above its weight in terms of quality exclusives. As a reader and a fan, I will always remain loyal to Nintendo.
