Jigsaw is back and this time it's bigger, bolder, and more gruesome than ever before. Saw X, the tenth installment of the Saw franchise, is directed by Kevin Greutert and follows John Kramer, the murderous escape room extraordinaire, on his mission to Mexico. He has been told that there is an experimental medical treatment that can cure his terminal cancer.
As it turns out, it's all a scam and Kramer decides to take revenge on his exploiters. What follows is a twisted tale of revenge with some of the goriest scenes in the franchise's history. There's even a scene so twisted that some people are said to have buried their faces in their jumpers!
In fact, a poster of one of these gruesome traps was plastered across London buses. It depicts a screaming man with two tubes attached to his eyes. We later find out that this device is designed to suck out the eyes of its subject unless they complete one of Jigsaw's games before the timer expires.
But, there's more to Saw X than just gore. We also get to see a more introspective side to Kramer as he decides to shed Jigsaw - his serial killer alter ego - when given a chance at life. He's aided by his old pals Amanda and Billy the bike-riding ventriloquist puppet.
And then there's the most shocking scene of all. Valentina, one of the crooks who helped swindle money out of Kramer, is put in a contraption designed to decapitate her if she doesn't cut off her leg and drain the marrow from her bloody stump quickly enough. It's a scene that will stay with you for a long time.
Overall, Saw X is a bloody, twisted, and surprisingly nuanced movie. Bell's killer performance, Lund's villainous turn, and the introspective side to Kramer make this one of the most memorable Saw movies.
