Eoin O'Faodhagain was in for a surprise last Tuesday when he was monitoring a live feed of Loch Ness. The 59 year old monster hunter was stunned to see something break the water's surface, which he claims to be the 'head and neck of Nessie', the lake's fabled monster.
"It literally pops up and is gone in the same breath," said Mr O'Faodhagain. "I think it's the elusive head and curved neck of Nessi. You could not say it is like anything else that is normally swimming around Loch Ness."
The footage shows a vague black shape appear above the water for approximately four seconds before disappearing again. Mr O'Faodhagain believes it is more curved than the iconic Surgeon's Photograph, taken in 1934.
"There is nothing known in the animal kingdom has a curved neck like that we know about - forget about seals and swans, there is no comparison whatsoever," said Mr O'Faodhagain.
The sighting follows the launch of the biggest search for the Loch Ness monster in more than 50 years earlier in August. Mr O'Faodhagain says he routinely watches webcam feeds of Scotland's Loch Ness from his home in Ireland.
"Most people watching the webcam would have given up at that stage because of the falling light, but it shows you have to persevere," said Mr O'Faodhagain. "And what an amazing sight, however short, you get for persevering."
The recent sighting has reignited the excitement surrounding the mythological creature, and it remains to be seen if more sightings will take place in the near future.
