The Badrinath temple, located in the mesmerizing Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand, has finally welcomed back its devoted followers after being closed for the winter season. This auspicious event marks the beginning of the highly revered Chardham Yatra to Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri.
Amidst the enchanting chanting of vedic mantras and the jubilant beats of dhols and nagadas, the doors of the Badrinath temple were opened after a six-month hiatus. The temple, adorned with a stunning display of 15 quintals of flowers, was bustling with eager devotees who braved the rain to witness this significant ceremony. The doors were finally unlocked at 6am, following two hours of traditional rituals.
On this joyous occasion, Uttarakhand's Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, extended his warm greetings to the people. The temple's revered chief priest, Rawal Ishwar Prasad Namboodiri, along with other members of the Badrinath-Kedarnath temple committee, including its chairperson Ajendra Ajay, and Chamoli District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana, were also present to witness this grand event.
The sacred pooja to open the doors was performed by Namboodiri in the inner sanctum of the temple. This ritual was also observed at the Kedarnath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri temples, which opened their doors to devotees on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya last Friday.
According to official data, a whopping 7,37,885 people had registered online for a darshan at Badrinath by 4pm on Saturday. This is a significant increase from last year's total of 18,39,591 visitors to the shrine. The reopening of the temple and the resumption of the Chardham Yatra has brought immense joy and devotion to the hearts of countless devotees.
