Update 2.0 didn't meet expectations of fixing enough issues with the game.
It's been a few months since Cyberpunk 2077's 2.0 update landed, and the question still remains: is it still a broken game? It's no secret that many players were frustrated with the game when it launched due to its numerous bugs and glitches. Despite a good story, many felt that the game's open world couldn't even compete with GTA 5's.

When I first started playing Cyberpunk 2077, I had high hopes. I thought this would be the game we all wanted when it first released, but it's become clear to me that we won't ever get that.

For instance, when I began a wanted level with the police, they spotted me and I ran around the corner. I expected them to follow me, but instead they just wandered around the same spot, shouting comments about catching me.

I then stole a cop car, and as soon as I left the vehicle, it became easy to throw them off. I started a cop fight and ran into a shop to lose my wanted level, only to find that the cops had already walked away, as if nothing had happened. It's a stark reminder of how far we've come since GTA 5 released 10 years ago. The buzz and feel of Los Santos is much more immersive than Night City.

I then stumbled across a street fight. Two people were standing with their fists raised, but no one was moving. I fired my gun into the air and they started running away, but then after 10 seconds they stopped and just calmly walked away.

My next attempt at finding some excitement was a Cyber-psycho encounter. The bad guy hid behind a dumpster, and when I got close enough, he rushed me. I jumped on a car and he struggled to know what to do. I shot at him and his impressive AI kicked in; he ran off to hide behind something nearby. However, after jumping back on the car and shooting at him a few more times, he just kept running back and forth between his hiding spot and me. It's clear that I'm playing on Very Hard, yet it's still too easy.

Overall, I actually quite like Cyberpunk 2077, even with all its flaws. The story is great, and the character models and voice-acting are some of the best I've seen. This is why I think the Metacritic score of 86 is puzzling. CD Projekt received a lot of criticism after the game's release, yet it still managed to achieve that score. With the 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty, many sections of the gaming media are proclaiming it as a game changer, but I would personally rate it in the 60s or 70s.

It's clear that CD Projekt just want this nightmare to be over. Last year when asked about a New Game+ mode, one of the devs became a bit terse and said it wasn't as easy to do as people think. However, this mode dropped for The Witcher 3 when the first expansion released, and those expansions are widely regarded as some of the finest in gaming.

I understand why CD Projekt just want out now, but I'm still hopeful for the future of Cyberpunk 2077.
