Ujjian: On Monday, the last and royal procession of Lord Mahakaleshwar in Bhadrapada was celebrated with grandeur and royal style. The procession left the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple at 4 pm and soon reached Ram Ghat of Ujjain. At 6 pm, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia performed Jalabhishek of Mahakal's replica with the auspicious waters of river Kshipra. The entire city of Ujjain was filled with chants of Lord Mahakaleshwar.

The Shahi Sawari was accompanied by a number of horsemen, police, special armed forces, bhajan troupes and bands. There was a special group from South India which was the centre of attraction. Devotees showered flowers throughout the ride and tried to get a glimpse of Lord Mahakaleshwar.

Due to the huge crowd, it took 15 minutes for the palanquin to reach the place of worship. Jyotiraditya Scindia reached there by boat and performed Jalabhishek. During Jalabhishek, devotees chanted mantras of Lord Mahakal. After Abhishek Puja, the ride left for Gopal Mandir. The route of the royal ride was about seven kilometres long and returned to the Mahakal Temple at around 10 pm.

In view of the possible crowd, holiday in schools was declared in Ujjain city. Myriad devotees participated in the royal procession and celebrated the occasion with great zeal and fervour.
