UK warned of heavy rain, possible flooding in some areas.
The UK is facing more flooding as the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain across large parts of the south-west of England and parts of Wales. Forecasters have warned that flooding of homes and businesses is ‘likely’ and the warning is in place for 18 hours, from 9pm Friday until 3pm Saturday.

Heavy rain is expected on Friday night, with the possibility of spray and flooding on roads, as well as difficult driving conditions and some road closures. Train and bus services could also be cancelled or delayed.

An Environment Agency flood warning is in place for an area just east of Taunton, Somerset, either side of the River Tone, where the water level is rising. Flood warnings mean that flooding is ‘expected’ and people in the area should ‘act now’.

In addition, there are 21 flood alerts in place for the areas of the south-west of England covered by the Met Office warning. These include Weymouth, Christchurch near Bournemouth, Yeovil, Bridgwater, Newton Abbot and Launceston. A flood alert is also in place for areas around rivers in south Pembrokeshire.

National Resource Wales warned: ‘A period of adverse weather is affecting this region. River levels are above normal levels. Flooding of low-lying land and roads is expected.’

The UK is bracing for yet more flooding and people in the affected areas should take extra care and be prepared. The Met Office weather warning will remain in place until 3pm on Saturday.
