Many will gather at midnight!

UK is the top destination for ringing in the New Year, not London.
It's almost time to ring in the New Year, and many of us are looking for the best places to celebrate. Surprisingly, according to research by loveholidays, London didn't top the list of best destinations in Europe for New Year's Eve. Instead, it was Manchester that came out on top for 'vibes and views'.
The online travel agent claims that 20 Stories in Spinningfields is the perfect spot to go on December 31, with the restaurant and bar having racked up over 20,000 New Year Instagram posts. This bar is known for its impressive 360-degree views of the Manchester skyline, and tickets are still available for this year's bash. Prices start from £75 for standing options, with drinks and dinner available as add-ons.

Alternatively, if you’re in Manchester and want a cheaper way to celebrate, you could always go and watch the Castlefield Bowl fireworks for free. The event has pedestrian access from Liverpool Road and Duke Street and kicks off at 10pm, with a DJ set from Hits Radio’s Jordan Lee.

The other locations on the top 10 list include Warsaw in Poland, Salling Rooftop and the Roof Garden in Aarhus, Denmark, MH5 in Munich, Germany, A For Athens in Athens, Greece, and bars in Budapest, Hungary, Copenhagen, Denmark, Istanbul, Turkey, and Bordeaux, France. London did make it into the top 10, coming in sixth with Frank’s Café at Bold Tendencies being the Instagrammable spot of choice. However, the café is closed for the winter season so that option is out.

Surprisingly, none of these rooftop spots were in chic European hotspots like Paris, Rome, or Milan, which were all notably absent from the list. And Europe’s ‘City of the Year’ for 2023 didn’t make the cut either.

Amersfoort, a small Dutch city that’s been hailed as an alternative to Amsterdam, recently scooped the accolade of ‘City of the Year’ for 2023. It's easily accessible by train from Amsterdam Centraal – the same station that the Eurostar pulls into from the UK. Although, it’s worth pointing out that this is disrupted for six months in 2024, so passengers will need to change at Brussels.

Wherever you decide to go for New Year's Eve, make sure it's a night to remember! Share your plans below and have a great time!
