Two women make-up artists arrested for stealing jewellery worth ₹70,000 from a marriage hall in Dombivali.
The Ramnagar police on Monday arrested two women make-up artists from Nalasopara and Malad who had stolen gold jewellery worth ₹70,000 from a bag in a special room of a marriage hall in Dombivali. The accused have been identified as Kalpana Rajesh Rathod a resident of Malad and Ankita Sharad Ingle alias Ankita Parab a resident of Nalasopara.

Nitin Gite, senior police inspector, at Ramnagar police station, revealed that the two women had taken advantage of the fact that the organiser of the event, Pooja Manoj Gupta, was too busy with the program. Kalpana and Ankita fled from the auditorium after stealing gold chains, earrings, and ₹5,000 in cash, adding up to a total of ₹70,000 worth of items from Pooja's bag.

When Pooja noticed the missing items from his bag in the special auditorium, he searched around but could not find them. He then lodged a complaint at Ramnagar police station, and a search team was formed. After reviewing the CCTV footage of the Sonam Auditorium, the team noticed the two women leaving the auditorium office in a suspicious manner and their location was traced with technical information.

The police team took both the accused into custody and the female police sub-inspector Asha Nikam searched them. To their surprise, the stolen items worth ₹70,000 were found with the two women. The case was registered against them under the Indian Penal Code sections 380 and 34 and the accused were arrested and further investigated for the crime.
