Yesterday, a terrifying incident took place in Openshaw, east Manchester, when two teenage boys were stabbed outside a college in the area. The attack happened around 12.50 pm, and the two boys, both aged 16, were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening stab wounds.
Witnesses described the knifeman as a 'young Asian or Indian male' with two braids in his hair. One eyewitness said they saw a group of around 30-50 young men in the area, and one of them took off his jacket and another was seen sitting on a bench, holding his stomach.
Four armed police vehicles, two ambulances, and an air ambulance were present at the scene, and another passer-by reported seeing a man lying on a bench with his stomach 'wrapped in bandages'.
Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Davies of Greater Manchester Police responded to the incident, saying that it is likely an isolated incident, but extra patrols will be present in the area for the next couple of days as enquiries are carried out. He also described the attacker as a young Asian or Indian male with two braids in his hair, and asked anyone with any information to contact the North Manchester CID office on 0161 856 1146 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
This stabbing was a shocking event and we hope that the two boys who were injured make a speedy and full recovery.
