Two people were hurt during a carjacking at the Martinez Amtrak station on Friday.
In the city of Martinez, a shocking incident unfolded at the Amtrak station on Friday morning. It all started when a 24-year-old woman was taken into custody by the authorities for her involvement in a carjacking that resulted in injuries to two individuals. According to officials, the incident took place at the Amtrak station located at 601 Marina Vista Ave.

As per the reports, one of the victims was in the process of loading their luggage into the backseat of their car, which was parked at the station, when the suspect suddenly took control of the vehicle with force. Martinez police Sergeant Rodney Brinser, in a news release, stated that the suspect had run over the victim's foot while making her escape. Another victim, an elderly woman, was also targeted by the suspect as she was forced out of the moving car and dragged along until she could break free.

Both victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed. The suspect, on the other hand, was tracked down and arrested in Walnut Creek at around 9:15 a.m., approximately two hours after the incident took place. Brinser further revealed that the suspect was charged with various offenses, including carjacking, possession of stolen property, aggravated elder abuse, and resisting arrest. She was then taken into custody at the Martinez Detention Facility.

According to jail records, the suspect is still in custody and being held on a bail of $240,000 as of Friday night. The arrest of the suspect, however, was not without incident as one of the officers sustained minor injuries during the process, as stated by Brinser. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the suspect had been involved in a disturbance at the same station just 35 minutes prior to the carjacking. The altercation had ended with Amtrak issuing her a refund.
