Two individuals were taken into custody when a violent fight broke out, resulting in the lockdown of a shopping center.
Two adolescents have been taken into custody following a reported armed altercation that caused a lockdown at a shopping center in Adelaide yesterday. According to reports, the incident occurred around 3pm when two groups of young men got into a physical altercation in the food court of Westfield Marion. It is believed that some of the individuals involved were armed.

The police have stated that this was not a random event. As a result, the shopping center was immediately put on lockdown and shoppers and onlookers were advised to evacuate the premises. Witness Janet Raphael described the frantic scene, saying, "Everyone was running for their lives." The situation was tense and chaotic as police worked to locate the individuals involved in the fight.

Initially, the police were unable to locate the suspects but they were able to escort several shoppers to safety. Those who were inside stores at the time were instructed to remain there for several hours as officers searched for the offenders. One shopper recounted their experience, stating, "My partner and I were in David Jones near the jewelry section when we heard someone over the intercom announce that it was an emergency." The next thing they knew, the security doors at David Jones were closed.

During the evacuation process, two shoppers were injured, including a 77-year-old woman who suffered a fracture after falling, and a teenage girl. In a recent update, the police have announced that two boys, aged 15 and 16, have been arrested and charged with assault, affray, and aggravated robbery. Two expandable batons were also seized by the police.

The two teens are scheduled to appear in court later today. The investigation is still ongoing and the police are asking anyone with information to come forward. Despite the chaos and disruption caused by the incident, shops at Westfield Marion are set to open as usual today.
