Travel agency in Cuffe Parade lost ₹4.25 lakh after cyber attack on email & web portal.
The travel agency in Cuffe Parade was shocked when they discovered that they had been hacked and had lost a total of Rs 4.25 lakh. Seema Makhija, 67, the owner of the firm, filed a complaint with the police after learning that 21 tickets had been booked from their website without their permission.

Makhija said the company was associated with several airline companies, and each airline portal required a unique ID and password to book tickets. On October 11, when the company attempted to book a ticket for a customer, they received an alert that there was not enough money in their account.

When the company reached out to the airlines, they were informed that the tickets had been booked using the company's user ID. Upon questioning her office staff, Makhija realized that no one had booked the tickets. The very next day, an unknown individual booked another ticket using the same user ID.

Having no other recourse, Makhija decided to file a complaint with the Cuffe Parade police. The police have launched an investigation and have registered an FIR against the unknown person under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act.
