Tornadoes devastate US state, killing more than 20 people.
At least 23 people have been killed, dozens injured, and four are missing after powerful storms and at least one tornado wreaked havoc in Mississippi, USA on Friday night, demolishing roofs of houses, nearly leveling some neighbourhoods and wiping out power for thousands, according to officials.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has reported that numerous local and state search and rescue teams are currently working on the ground to assist those that have been impacted by the storm system, which is now pushing east Saturday morning.

Governor Tate Reeves tweeted, "The loss will be felt in these towns forever. Please pray for God's hand to be over all who lost family and friends."

Search-and-rescue operations in Silver City and Rolling Fork, which was reportedly almost completely obliterated, were underway after a tornado with a speed of 80km/h was detected over the town just after 8pm CT.

Rolling Fork Mayor Eldridge Walker declared that his "city is gone," and many buildings and houses in the city were flattened by the storm. He said, "We're going to come back strong. Houses that are torn up can be replaced."

At least 13 deaths were recorded in Sharkey County, three in Humphreys County, two in Monroe County, and three in Carroll County, with many more injured and in critical condition. Brandy Showah said she had "never seen anything like this," and described the tremendous destruction left in the wake of the storm.
