The Big Brother reboot is about to get a revamp! The show, which has previously aired on Channel 4 and 5, is set to return to our screens later this year on ITV, with AJ Odudu and Will Best at the helm.

Before the new batch of housemates enter the Big Brother house, they will be put through a rigorous training programme, much more intense than what Love Island contestants have gone through. According to sources, the training will include a ‘watertight’ welfare package that covers topics such as diversity and inclusion, racism and gender diversity, sexual consent, and conflict resolution.

An insider told The Sun: ‘Love Island’s provision is already considered the Fort Knox of training but ITV knows how important the re-launch of such a loved programme as Big Brother is. And of course, it’s been a fairly difficult time for the channel with recent events on This Morning, so everyone is determined the brand won’t be rocked by any further scandal.’

Will Best, one of the show’s presenters, has teased a switch-up in the format. He said: ‘The focus of this is it’s going to be an entertainment show, but it’s going to be fun and funny with all of that emotion and realness that you get with Big Brother.’

The team behind the revival are also keen to go back to Big Brother’s golden period, when the show was watched by an average of 5.89 million people during the third series. Kevin Lygo, director of media and entertainment at ITV, said in a statement: ‘The key to Big Brother is to keep it like it was in its golden period – more interesting, intelligent, and upmarket than other reality shows.’

However, the ratings dropped significantly over the years, and by the time the last series aired, only 1.02 million viewers tuned in.

Big Brother is about to make a comeback and we can’t wait to see what the new format and training programme has in store! ITV2 will be launching the reboot later this year, so make sure you keep an eye out for it.
