Tony Hadley, the former Spandau Ballet star, was recently rushed to hospital moments before taking to the stage for a gig. At 63, Tony started feeling unwell backstage and needed medical attention. To the dismay of his fans, he had to cancel his performance.
Thankfully, Tony has now recovered and shared a video on Twitter to thank his followers for their support.
"Hi there, this is Tony here, and as some of you, or quite a few of you, are aware, I had a little operation a couple of weeks ago," he said. "Then it was off to Ireland and we were doing an acoustic session, a little acoustic festival. I'm so sorry that I couldn't get to the stage but I took a slight turn for the worse and ended up in Antrim hospital."
He expressed his gratitude to the medical staff at the Antrim hospital and Wickam hospital for their "fantastic" care.
"Back home now, all is good. Went to the Wickam hospital yesterday, they're now looking after me, and the staff equally so were fantastic. The NHS, I thank you very, very much."
Tony reassured his followers that he is "on the mend", and thanked them for their "love, wishes, and kind words".
The Belfast Telegraph reported that when Tony was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, the crowd was "very understanding" and medics were "very clear he needed to go to hospital".
