The Delhi Police's Special Cell has made a significant breakthrough in their fight against terrorism. According to an official statement made on Sunday, the police have successfully dismantled a terror module that was being funded by Pakistan. The mastermind behind this module is none other than Shahzad Bhatti, a notorious gangster who has now turned into a terrorist and is currently residing in our neighboring country.
The police have apprehended three key members of this module, one from Punjab, one from Madhya Pradesh, and one from Uttar Pradesh. During the arrests, the police also confiscated a semi-automatic pistol, 10 live cartridges, and mobile phones containing incriminating evidence in the form of chats and reconnaissance videos. The Additional Commissioner of Police, Pramod Singh Kushwah, has stated that this module was responsible for the grenade attack that took place on November 25 outside the City police station in Punjab's Gurdaspur. Further investigations have revealed that this attack was carried out on Bhatti's orders.
The three arrested individuals have been identified as Vikas Prajapati, Hargunpreet Singh, and Asif. Prajapati hails from Madhya Pradesh, Singh is from Firozpur in Punjab, and Asif is from Bijnaur in Uttar Pradesh. The police have been able to track down these individuals by closely monitoring Bhatti's activities, particularly his online communication patterns. It was discovered that Prajapati was in frequent contact with Bhatti through social media. His location kept changing between Gurdaspur and Delhi, with Bhatti frequently instructing him to switch off his phone to avoid being traced.
Prajapati, who was already wanted in a case related to arms smuggling, was eventually arrested in Madhya Pradesh after a two-day manhunt. He provided crucial information about the modus operandi of the terror module. As per the Additional CP, Bhatti and his associates based in Pakistan would target young Indians on social media, enticing them with money and the glamorization of gangster life. They would select their recruits by scanning their profiles and then use them as pawns for terror attacks. All instructions and payments were made digitally to avoid detection.
During interrogation, Prajapati revealed that he was drawn towards Bhatti's online persona, which ultimately led him to contact him through social media. He also disclosed that he had received a parcel containing a grenade from Bhatti, which he then handed over to Hargunpreet Singh and his associate. Hargunpreet, a 12th-grade student from Firozpur, admitted to carrying out the grenade attack on November 25 while riding pillion on a motorcycle driven by his associate.
The third member of the module, Asif, was also recruited through social media. He had been instructed by Bhatti to prepare for a similar attack in Punjab, for which Bhatti had shared location maps and photographs with him. The police are currently conducting search operations to track down the other members of this terror module.
This significant bust by the Delhi Police has dealt a major blow to the terrorist activities being carried out in India with the support of Pakistan. The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the authorities. Let us all stand together and fight against the threat of terrorism in our country.
